The Justice Department on Monday said it would sue AT&T to halt its proposed $85 billion takeover of Time Warner. The Justice Department raised concerns about the deal earlier this month, as top officials at the companies and the Justice Department traded conflicting accounts of what steps AT&T and Time Warner were told they had to take to avoid an antitrust action. A Justice Department official said that his office decided to bring action after its economic analysis concluded that the merger “would harm competition.”
